In keeping with our high technology image, Arrow Technical has just ordered a brand new 2nd generation Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid.
Arriving late November it’s a permanent 4-wheel drive all electric SUV with petrol generator for backup. It has a range of 32 miles on all electric power which will suffice for 95% of the vehicle’s short range pool car and delivery requirements. Petrol power will propel it on longer motorway journeys giving a range of around 450 miles.
The Advanced Manufacturing Park already has a rapid charge facility for electric vehicles and we will also provide a charging point for visitors to Arrow Technical with electric vehicles. Hopefully this will encourage more to adopt this new technology as a way of reducing emissions especially in highly populated and congested areas.
We do need a large vehicle for deliveries and we need a good general purpose pool car for our general use. In the past this has necessitated a large diesel engine vehicle of some description but as fuel costs rise and environmental standards are tightened this electric vehicle is the ideal way forward and we’re flying the flag for next generation motoring.
If general use proves as practical as it appears then we will start to look out for an all electric vehicle sometime in the future.
