Arrow Technical Services' Celebrates 10th Anniversary - 01/08/2005

July saw Arrow Technicals 10th Anniversary. From humble beginnings we now have a very professional team offering a wide range of electronics services and a growing business. To celebrate, by popular choice, we all went bowling and then out for an Italian meal to round the evening off. We all had the next day off to recover which made a long weekend before rejoining the fray for another 10 years!

New SMT Production Line Now Operational - 24/06/2004

After much hard work, tears and toil by our production guys & gals our new SMT assembly line is operational.

This much needed addition to our product assembly service means we can place the largest BGA's and SMT components down to 0.5mm pitch spacing at speeds up to 5000 components per hour in house which greatly speeds our job turnaround times and flexibility.

Jobs from a single board up to runs of several thousand per month are now passing through our machine. How did we ever manage without it!

Arrow aims high with Investors in people - 24/06/2003

Arrow Technical Services is celebrating acheiving Investors in People (IiP) Accreditation, with help and support from Busines Link South Yorkshire.

The business, which subcontracts design and assembly of new electronic products for aerospace, industrial, scientific and consumer electronics markets, was keen to change it's culture through IiP and compete on a more professional level with other electronics firms.

"We are delighted to have acheived Investors in People", said Managing Director Chris Worrall. "We are now working towards ISO-9000, which we believe will make an even greater difference to our business. We are seeing the benifits of IiP already - which include a greatly improved team spirit and motivation as well as increasing productivity. We're proud to be able to add the IiP logo to our literature and feel it will help us develop our business even further.

Louise Barlow, Business Advisor for Business Link, said: "Investors in People involves a great deal of commitment by the company, and Arrow Technical Services deserve the recognition after the hard work they have put into acheiving it . The company is well on the way to acheiving ISO-9000 and, with their determination, it won't be long before they will be able to add this to their list of acheivements."

Ski idea goes down a treat - 24/03/2002

International ski instructor Christopher Raisby and Sheffield electronics expert Dr Chris Worrall have secured a £50,000 grant to develop a device that could revolutionise the way people learn to ski.

The grant from NESTA - the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts is to develop a prototype monitor that can provide feedback to tell skiers when they are going wrong.

Dr Worrall, an enthusiastic amateur skier and founder of product development specialist, Arrow Technical Services had started wondering a few years ago if there might be a way of helping people to improve their skiing faster, by giving them continual feedback on any errors as they were coming downhill rather than waiting until the end of the run. They could then correct any errors as they went.

The device works with the Primary Movements Teaching Scheme for skiing, invented by international ski expert, Harald Harb. Christopher Braisby explains that unlike traditional ski coaching; " the Primary Movements system has proved to be the most bio-mechanically accurate. What you learn on your first day doesn't change as you become more experienced."

Sheffield Hallam University's engineering product development team helped Dr Worrall refine his initial ideas, and he also sought advice from the Sheffield University-based Sports SET Network which helps develop sporting technology.

A combination of the assistance from the universities, the involvement of Arrow and support from Harald Harab in the US, culminated in the NESTA backing, and trials of the prototype monitor will now take place.
